Most of the copper craftsmen have their workshops installed in their own homes in a covered but open section since the air must circulate freely. On the ground is the cendrada (seat of ash that is placed in the furnace square to refine the metal), which is a kind of wide and shallow forge where the fire is fed and which is filled with charanda stones pressed with layers of oak charcoal ash, in that space the copper and silver are placed and melted at high temperatures, once they become red hot they are extracted, the yews are divided ( of silver and copper) and are placed on an anvil where with the blow of a hammer or mallet the piece is shaped, heating it whenever required, it is superficially polished and the sgraffito motifs (fretwork, rhombuses, flowers) are applied , finally it is bathed with sulfuric acid and carved with a steel fiber, water and soap until the desired shine is obtained.
